About the Role
Join the Family Medicine Inpatient team on the 3-N unit as a Medical Assistant. In this 0.90 FTE night shift position, you will serve as a vital support pillar for our nursing staff and patients, bridging the gap between clinical care and administrative efficiency. You will work with a diverse patient population ranging from neonates to geriatric adults, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment for every individual.
Your day will involve a dynamic blend of direct patient care and clerical support. You will assist providers with treatment procedures, manage patient admissions and discharges, and perform essential clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, EKGs, and medication administration. Beyond the bedside, you will maintain the nursing station's organization, manage patient data, and ensure the physical environment remains sanitary and safe. Key Responsibilities
- check_circleAssist with activities of daily living including meals, ambulation, hygiene, and toileting
- check_circleCollect patient data, obtain medical history, and perform basic patient screening and intakes
- check_circleFollow patient safety policies, report errors, and encourage patient participation in care
- check_circlePerform treatment procedures including phlebotomy, catheterization, EKGs, and wound care
- check_circleObserve patients for safety and well-being, reporting concerns to the Charge Nurse
- check_circleEnter patient data into computer systems, schedule appointments, and direct phone calls
- check_circleRecord vital signs, intake-output measurements, and report changes in patient condition
- check_circleAssist with admission, transfer, discharge processes, and provider treatment procedures
- check_circleAdminister medications via various routes and document clinical findings accurately
- check_circleMaintain a sanitary work area, order supplies, and ensure equipment is functional
Requirements
- verifiedHigh School or GED Equivalent
- verifiedMA accred pgm graduate or 2 yrs MA experience on DD Form 214
- verifiedUNMH MA Safe Med Admin Course Completion w/in 90 Days
- verifiedPhlebotomy, Indwelling Urinary Catheter (Foley) w/in 90 Days
- verifiedCPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days
Nice to Have
