You will join the Digest Disease Health Center, a vital component of the Clinical Nursing Support department. Our mission is to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care across a diverse spectrum of age groups, from neonates to geriatric patients. The team operates within a collaborative environment dedicated to the core expectations of the Patient Centered Medical Home, ensuring that every interaction prioritizes safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
This position serves as a dynamic support hub for the medical team, blending essential clerical functions with direct patient care responsibilities. You will be the first point of contact for many patients, guiding them through the admission, transfer, and discharge processes while maintaining the accuracy of their medical records. Your day will involve a mix of administrative precision and clinical assistance, ensuring the department runs smoothly and efficiently.
In this role, you will assist providers with a variety of treatment procedures, ranging from setting up sterile fields to chaperoning examinations. You will perform routine non-invasive tasks such as taking vital signs, administering urine dipsticks, and conducting EKGs, while also having the opportunity to perform invasive procedures like phlebotomy, ear irrigation, and catheterization once trained. Medication administration is a key component, requiring adherence to strict safety protocols and the "Seven Rights" of medication delivery.
Beyond the clinical floor, you will manage the flow of patient data, schedule appointments, and handle cashiering duties to ensure financial transactions are balanced and accurate. Maintaining a sanitary and well-stocked work area is critical, as you will be responsible for sterilizing instruments, ordering supplies, and reporting any equipment issues immediately. Your proactive approach to patient safety will be valued, as you are encouraged to question processes and identify environmental risks to protect both patients and staff.
Candidates selected for an interview will be expected to demonstrate their qualifications and fit for the team. Please note that specific course completions, such as the UNMH MA Safe Med Admin Course and CPR/BLS certification, are required within 30 to 90 days of hire if not already possessed.
