This role is part of the Neuroscience Department (5-S), specifically supporting the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU). The team is dedicated to providing comprehensive care for patients across the lifespan, from neonates to geriatric populations, with a specialized focus on monitoring behavioral events and optimizing EEG readings in a high-acuity environment.
As a member of the Clinical Nursing Support team, you will serve as a vital link in patient care, combining direct clinical support with critical observation duties. You will provide basic patient care, including tube insertion, wound care, phlebotomy, and assistance with activities of daily living such as meals, hygiene, and ambulation. A unique aspect of this position involves attentively monitoring designated patients via camera on the EMU and other in-patient units. You will recognize and respond to routine and emergent behavioral events, document patient behaviors, and work to eliminate artifacts to ensure high-quality EEG data. Beyond direct care, you will assist in planning and organizing activities within the nursing station, handling clerical duties, maintaining the physical environment, and verifying patient coverage eligibility for outside services.
This is a full-time position (0.90 FTE) working the Night shift. To support our dedicated night team, the role includes specific shift differentials: 17% for weekday nights, 26% for weekend nights, and 15% for weekend days. A sign-on bonus is available for qualified candidates. Compensation is determined by factors including experience, education, and organizational needs.
