About the Role
The Patient Care Assistant assists patient care unit staff with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care, supporting nursing practice under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. This role carries out designated activities within the functions limited by law to unlicensed nursing personnel. The skills and responsibilities of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) align closely with those of a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) and Patient Care Technician (PCT), making this a great opportunity for those with CNA experience.
Location and Schedule
The Patient Care Assistant will be hired to work at either the Saint Marys Hospital or Rochester Methodist Hospital Campus. As a full-time, nonexempt role, the schedule is variable, including days, evenings, and either 8 or 12-hour shifts. Weekend scheduling options are also available and will be discussed during the interview process.
Hiring Process
Please attach your school schedule if applicable. Internal applicants should attach their three most recent performance appraisals. Candidates without current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross will receive this certification as part of the orientation program.
