As a Rigger at Encore, you will be the backbone of our event execution, performing critical rigging activities within hospitality and convention center environments. Your mission is to uphold the highest standards of safety and quality, ensuring that every scenic element, lighting fixture, and sound system is secured with precision. You will report directly to the Lead Rigger or Rigging Coordinator, serving as a vital link between technical planning and on-site execution.
This role is designed for those who thrive in dynamic, fast-paced settings where attention to detail is paramount. Your day will involve gathering and organizing specialized rigging tools, staging motors and equipment under rig points, and providing ground support to teams utilizing lifts. You will be responsible for establishing hang-points, connecting hoists and attachments to permanent rigging points, and ensuring the safety of all flown equipment. From inspecting cabling tie-offs to verifying that truss bolts are tight, your work ensures that shows run smoothly and safely from setup to strike.
Beyond the technical execution, you will act as a safety advocate, observing and maintaining safety concerns throughout the event. This includes escalating any unsafe behaviors and ensuring that all personnel lifts are operated according to manufacturer recommendations and local conditions. You will also collaborate with other technical trades to coordinate show plots, identifying potential rigging obstacles and recommending solutions to resolve issues in harmony with floor activity.
Your work will take place in hotel and convention center environments, often involving moderate exposure to outdoor temperatures, dirt, sand, and dust. The atmosphere can range from moderately quiet to noisy, depending on the event phase. You will be working with high-end audio-visual equipment and electrical components, frequently exposed to heights via lifts and ladders. The role requires flexibility, with working times that include irregular hours, on-call status, and availability for days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. You may be asked to work across multiple hotel locations and must adhere to specific appearance guidelines defined by Encore for each city or area.
