As a Clinical Laboratory Scientist at Kaiser Permanente, you will serve as a critical partner in patient care by performing pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical testing across a wide spectrum of clinical disciplines. From Hematology and Microbiology to Clinical Chemistry and Immunohematology, your work generates the essential data used for diagnosis and treatment planning for diverse patient populations, including neonates, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric clients.
This role operates with a high degree of autonomy, requiring you to perform and report results for both automated and manual procedures without immediate supervision. Beyond technical analysis, you will act as a resource for the broader medical team, consulting with physicians, nurses, and pharmacists on test utilization and result interpretation. You will also play a key educational role, guiding new employees, CLS students, and support staff to ensure the department maintains the highest standards of proficiency and safety.
In addition to laboratory duties, you will engage in direct patient care by collecting samples (blood, body fluids, secretions, and tissues), educating patients on specimen requirements, and ensuring the integrity of the testing process from start to finish.
