Located at the iconic Bahia Honda State Park in Big Pine Key, this Park Services Specialist (Resident) role is the heartbeat of our operations. You will serve as a resident caretaker, ensuring the park's facilities, grounds, and resources are maintained and protected year-round. This position offers a unique opportunity to live and work within a tropical destination known for its palm-lined beaches, gin-clear waters, and magnificent sunsets.
In this role, you will manage the daily rhythm of the park, from identifying maintenance needs and repairing facilities to interpreting park programs for visitors. You will enforce park rules to protect natural resources, assist in the removal of exotic plants, and provide emergency assistance when necessary. As a resident, you will be an integral part of the park community, fostering positive guest relations and supporting volunteer efforts while enjoying the balmy sea breezes that define the Florida Keys.

This historic park, transformed from a remote island into a tropical destination by Henry Flagler's early 1900s railroad efforts, offers an exceptional environment for observing wading birds, shorebirds, and diverse island flora and fauna. Visitors can enjoy kayaking, snorkeling, and boat trips to the reef, all while you ensure the safety and beauty of the experience.
This position is designated as a Position of Special Trust, requiring a successful background screening and fingerprint check. Candidates must also be willing to complete the ranger academy and reside on park property. The role involves working rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.
