The Special Education Paraprofessional serves as a vital support pillar within our school community, working directly alongside special education and general education teachers to foster an inclusive learning environment. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about providing educational and maintenance assistance to students with diverse needs, ranging from those requiring curriculum support to those needing intensive physical and behavioral assistance.
Paraprofessionals in this position act as a bridge between instruction and student application. You will work in one-on-one, small group, and large group settings to reinforce academic concepts, facilitate social interactions, and support communication skills. Whether in a resource room, an inclusive classroom, or community-based training environments, your presence ensures that students receive the personalized attention necessary to thrive.
The role extends beyond the classroom walls. You will collaborate closely with a team of educators, administrators, and service providers to implement prescribed behavioral and academic intervention plans. This requires a high degree of flexibility, as you may assist with daily living activities such as feeding, toileting, and diapering for students with significant needs, or manage specialized equipment for students with severe intellectual disabilities. Success in this position demands a positive attitude, strict adherence to confidentiality, and a commitment to maintaining a safe, supportive, and professional school environment.
