You will serve as a vital member of the UNMH Rapid Response Team, providing direct patient care across the entire hospital complex. This role is designed to stabilize patients and guide care autonomously until specialized providers arrive, acting as a crucial patient advocate and liaison between multiple departments. You will function within the scope of practice defined by the New Mexico Bureau of Emergency Medical Services, ensuring adherence to hospital policies while supporting a diverse patient population ranging from neonates to geriatric adults.
Your day-to-day involves responding to hospital emergencies, including specific rapid response teams such as the DR. Heart, Stroke Alert, DART, and Sepsis Response Teams. You will perform advanced life support procedures, from intubation and defibrillation to ultrasound-guided venous puncture, while maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and their families. Beyond clinical duties, you will play an active role in quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and mentoring new employees.
This position offers a competitive compensation package including shift differentials (17% for weekday nights, 26% for weekend nights, and 15% for weekend days). A sign-on bonus and relocation assistance are available for qualified candidates. Compensation is determined by factors including experience, education, and organizational needs.
