About the Role
As a Classroom Instructional Health Aide for Moderate to Severe Disabilities, you will provide essential instructional and health support under the supervision of a special education teacher. This role exists to ensure students with moderate to severe cognitive and/or physical needs can function safely and effectively within a specialized classroom environment.
Your day will involve reinforcing material introduced by the teacher, assisting with personal care needs such as toileting, feeding, and suctioning, and implementing behavioral plans developed by a team of parents and school personnel. You will act as a vital link between the student, the teacher, and the family, often translating information and administering emergency rescue medications or basic first aid. Flexibility is key, as you will supervise students during drills, assemblies, and field trips while maintaining a quiet, orderly, and safe atmosphere.
