As a Para Sped Low Incidence professional within USD 259, you will serve as a vital support system for students with intensive needs. Working under the direct supervision of a department supervisor and in close collaboration with certificated staff, your primary mission is to facilitate the education, safety, and integration of students into the school environment. This role is essential for ensuring that every student receives the personalized attention and assistance required to thrive academically and socially.
Your day is defined by dynamic interaction and adaptability. You will assist teachers in managing classroom routines, implementing behavior plans, and delivering instructional support to both special education and general education students. A significant portion of your time involves direct student care, which may include assisting with self-care, hygiene, feeding, and physical transfers, requiring a high level of physical stamina and manual dexterity.
You will act as a bridge between students, parents, and staff, communicating effectively through various channels to ensure continuity of care. Whether supervising students during school activities, assisting with transportation, or utilizing assistive technology like low vision equipment and Braille materials, your goal is to foster a positive, safe, and inclusive atmosphere. You will also participate in team meetings, professional learning communities (PLCs), and parent conferences to contribute to the ongoing development of student success plans.

All applicants must successfully pass the Physical Capacity Test (PCT) and complete required in-service training in first aid, child abuse symptoms, and illness recognition.
