About the Role
The Outpatient RN CAP 1 position serves as an entry-level designation within the Clinical Advancement Program (CAP). As a vital member of the End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) healthcare team, you will be accountable for the provision and coordination of clinically competent care, encompassing assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation for an assigned group of patients.
In this role, you will participate in decision-making, teaching, and leadership functions while engaging in quality improvement activities designed to enhance patient care outcomes and facility operations. You will collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to identify expected outcomes, update nursing assessments, and ensure patients are aware of transplant and treatment modality options. Additionally, you will serve as a resource for the healthcare team and assist in the training and orientation of new staff.
Work Environment
This position provides direct patient care in a health care facility characterized by air temperature control and moderate noise levels. The role involves frequent standing, bending, and interaction with patients, facility staff, and physicians. While equipment aids and coworkers may provide assistance, the position may require moving machines and equipment weighing up to 200 lbs. and lifting chemical or water solutions up to 30 lbs. Employees may also be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases/materials. Occasional travel to training sites or other facilities may be required.
Career Growth
This role is designed to launch your career in nephrology nursing. Successful completion of CAP requirements is necessary to advance within the program. As you gain experience, you may progress to Team Leader or designated Nurse in Charge responsibilities, overseeing Patient Care Technicians, LPNs, LVNs, and RNs.
