The Outpatient RN CAP 1 position serves as an entry-level designation within the Clinical Advancement Program (CAP). As a vital member of the End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) healthcare team, you will provide and coordinate clinically competent care for an assigned group of patients. This role involves the full nursing process—assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation—while collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to enhance patient outcomes and facility operations.
In this capacity, you will participate in decision-making, teaching, and quality improvement activities. You will direct the daily provision of safe and effective hemodialysis therapy, ensuring systematic collection and analysis of patient data before, during, and after treatments. Your responsibilities include educating patients and families, administering medications, and serving as a resource for the healthcare team, including the training and orientation of new staff.
This position operates within a healthcare facility characterized by air temperature control and moderate noise levels. The role involves direct patient care, which may include heavy lifting, moving patients, and assisting with ambulation. You will frequently stand for prolonged periods and may occasionally move equipment weighing up to 200 lbs. with assistance. The environment may expose you to infectious and contagious diseases. Day-to-day activities also include desk work, computer documentation, and interaction with patients, facility staff, and physicians. Occasional travel to training sites or other facilities may be required.
This role is designed as a foundational step in your nursing career. Successful completion of the CAP requirements is integral to advancing your clinical designation. As you gain experience, you may progress to Team Leader or Nurse in Charge roles, overseeing Patient Care Technicians, LPNs, LVNs, and RNs, provided you meet specific experience thresholds and complete all Fresenius Kidney Care education and training requirements.
Fresenius Medical Care maintains a drug-free workplace in accordance with applicable federal and state laws. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity and inclusion, considering qualified applicants regardless of disability or veteran status.
