The Outpatient RN CAP 1 position serves as an entry-level designation within the Clinical Advancement Program (CAP). As a vital member of the End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) healthcare team, you will provide and coordinate clinically competent care for an assigned group of patients. This role involves the full nursing process—assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation—while collaborating with physicians, the interdisciplinary team, and direct patient care staff to enhance patient outcomes and facility operations.
In this capacity, you will participate in decision-making, teaching, and quality improvement activities. You will be responsible for the safe and effective delivery of hemodialysis therapy, including the systematic collection and analysis of patient data before, during, and after treatments. Your work ensures that patients and their families receive necessary education regarding treatment options, including transplant awareness, while maintaining strict adherence to Fresenius Kidney Care policies and federal regulations.
This role requires direct patient care in a healthcare facility environment. The work involves frequent standing, bending, and the ability to assist with patient ambulation. While equipment aids and coworkers may provide assistance, the position may require moving machines and equipment up to 200 lbs. and lifting chemical or water solutions up to 30 lbs. The environment includes moderate noise levels and air temperature control, with potential exposure to infectious materials. Day-to-day duties also include computer work and interaction with staff and physicians, with occasional travel to training sites or other facilities.
This position is designed as a foundational step for professional development. Successful completion of all Fresenius Kidney Care education and training requirements, along with meeting specific experience benchmarks, prepares you for advancement. As you progress, you may assume Team Leader or Nurse in Charge oversight of Patient Care Technicians, LPNs, LVNs, and RNs, guiding the next generation of nursing staff.
Fresenius Medical Care is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE) committed to diversity and inclusion. We consider qualified applicants regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or veteran status. We maintain a drug-free workplace in accordance with applicable federal and state laws.
