This position serves as a non-OTETA role focused on the skilled operation, maintenance, and inspection of a water plant facility. The incumbent is responsible for managing the day-to-day functions of the plant, including the operation of power-driven pumps, chlorinators, aerators, and auxiliary engines. The role requires a blend of technical expertise in wastewater operations and the ability to manage assigned clerical and professional personnel within the department.
The position involves a dynamic day-to-day workflow that includes performing both permanent and emergency repairs, conducting chemical tests, and maintaining equipment cleanliness. Employees will operate various machinery such as turbine pumps, high-service pumps, and grinders, while regulating water flow, pressure, and levels throughout the system. The role also entails periodic gauge and meter readings, sample collection for laboratory analysis, and the preparation of statutory and operational reports required by governing jurisdictions.
As a supervisory role, the incumbent is expected to take responsibility for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of assigned teams. This includes interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning and assigning work, appraising performance, and addressing complaints in accordance with district policies and applicable state and federal laws.
