Archaea Energy, a bp company, is a leader in landfill gas to energy and the largest renewable natural gas (RNG) producer in the US. With big ambitions, we specialize in the development, construction, and operation of RNG, landfill-gas-to-electric, and dairy digester facilities. Our mission is to deliver a better and more balanced energy system, helping the world reach net zero by 2050 or sooner.
The Operations Technician is responsible for the overall safe operation, maintenance, and performance of a landfill gas to Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) processing facility. This role is critical to maintaining compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and prescribed safety and environmental standards. You will work as part of an industry-leading team in an inclusive environment where everyone is respected and treated fairly.
This position involves a dynamic day-to-day rhythm, ranging from managing plant operations during assigned shifts to performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting complex mechanical and electrical systems. You will monitor process control systems, analyze operational data, and respond to emergencies to restore normal operations. The role requires a blend of technical expertise and practical problem-solving, often working independently to interpret schematics and follow established procedures.
Travel Expectations This role requires significant travel, typically 25% to 50% per month. For the first 12 months, new hires working at a new plant will be required to travel 50% of the time. This requirement reduces to 25% per month once working at an existing plant or in the second year and beyond for a new plant.
We aim to support our people to learn and grow while investing in today's energy system and building out tomorrow's. As part of the bp family, you will receive a reward and wellbeing package designed to enable your work to fit with your life, including a quarterly momentum bonus, 401K program, and comprehensive health, vision, and dental insurance. We also offer generous paid vacation, holidays, and parental leave policies.
To apply, please submit your resume and cover letter highlighting your relevant experience in landfill gas processing, chemical plant operations, or power plant operations. Selected candidates will undergo a rigorous selection process that may include pre-placement drug screening, medical reviews of physical fitness, and background checks, depending on the role and local policy.
