Archaea Energy, a bp company, is a leader in landfill gas to energy and the largest renewable natural gas (RNG) producer in the US. With big ambitions, we specialize in the development, construction, and operation of RNG, landfill-gas-to-electric, and dairy digester facilities. Our mission is to deliver a better and more balanced energy system, helping the world get to net zero by 2050 or sooner.
The Operations Technician is responsible for the overall safe operation, maintenance, and performance of a landfill gas to Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) processing facility. This role is critical to maintaining compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and prescribed safety and environmental standards. You will work in an inclusive environment where everyone is respected and treated fairly, with opportunities to learn and grow.
This position involves a dynamic day-to-day rhythm, ranging from managing safe plant operations during assigned shifts to performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on complex instrumentation. You will make periodic inspections of plant equipment, review daily operating reports, and diagnose equipment malfunctions during emergencies. The role requires a high degree of technical autonomy, including the ability to read blueprints, interpret technical manuals, and solve practical problems with minimal supervision.
Travel is a key component of this role. New hires working at a new plant will require 50% travel per month for the first 12 months. This requirement reduces to 25% per month when working at an existing plant or in year two and beyond for a new plant.
Delivering a better energy system requires courage and commitment. By joining our industry-leading team, you will play a key part in helping bp achieve its ambition to be a net zero company. We aim to support our people in building out tomorrow's energy system while enjoying a reward and wellbeing package designed to enable your work to fit with your life.
