Amazon created one of the most sophisticated supply chains in the world, consistently driving change from the front of the pack. The Global Engineering Services (GES) North America Operations Engineering team works across the region to deliver material handling system launches, retrofits, and innovations. The OE Execution Team specifically focuses on automation infrastructure projects related to material handling, storage, processing, and delivery for new builds and retrofits across First and Middle Miles.
We are a diverse, upbeat, and creative team of engineers and managers who operate on the principle that we are all Owners. We leverage unique opportunities to own everything from firm engineering to project execution and final hand-off. Our culture is built on collaboration: we work daily to be smarter, faster, and grow together. Continuous improvement is at our core; we are never satisfied and are constantly raising the quality bar by incorporating lessons learned into future design and process iterations.
As an Operations Engineer, you will lead and manage the lifecycle of challenging cross-functional projects, developing and delivering the next generation of sortation and distribution solutions. You will play an integral part in planning and implementing the facility network infrastructure, including new builds, retrofits, expansions, and program initiatives. This role requires you to be a customer-obsessed leader who partners with internal customers and stakeholders to ensure timely handovers.
You will work with some of the most talented engineers in the design, development, and delivery of physical distribution systems around the globe. Your day-to-day involves managing technology or integration projects, working directly with external equipment vendors, and ensuring solutions meet project goals. You will act as the owner of project objectives, participating in firm engineering reviews to impact system architecture and facility processes. Whether on a jobsite, in an active facility, or in a corporate office, you will coordinate with operations teams and contractors, facilitate planning meetings, and drive resolutions to barriers and design issues.
This position requires significant travel; you will be on the road up to 75% of the year, which may include up to three weeks in a row, including weekends. When not traveling, you must have availability to work from a corporate office. Candidates should live near or be willing to relocate within a reasonable commuting distance of one of the listed corporate office locations. Relocation assistance may be provided.
If you are passionate about this role and want to make an impact on a global scale, we would love to hear from you. At Amazon, we value people with unique backgrounds, experiences, and skillsets. If you are not sure that every qualification on the list describes you exactly, please still apply.
If you have a disability and need a workplace accommodation or adjustment during the application and hiring process, including support for the interview or onboarding process, please visit Amazon Jobs Accommodations for more information.
