You will join the Global Engineering Services (GES) North America Operations Engineering team. We are a diverse, upbeat, and creative group of engineers and managers dedicated to delivering the most advanced fulfillment solutions in the world. Our mission is to design, build, and continuously improve the infrastructure that powers Amazon's order fulfillment network across North America.
As part of the Ops Eng Execution Team, we own the entire lifecycle of automation infrastructure projects—from firm engineering and project execution to the final hand-off to our customers. We operate on the principles of "be smarter together, be faster together, and grow together." Continuous improvement is at the heart of our culture; we are never satisfied with the status quo and constantly seek to raise the quality bar through incremental and breakthrough developments. We leverage captured lessons learned to perpetually improve our designs and processes, ensuring our internal customers have the capabilities to deliver on the Customer Promise.
As an Operations Engineer, you will lead and manage the lifecycle of challenging cross-functional projects, developing and delivering the next generation of sortation and distribution solutions. You are a customer-obsessed leader who will play an integral part in planning and implementing the facility network infrastructure, including new builds, retrofits, expansions, and program initiatives.
In this role, you will partner with internal customers and stakeholders to ensure timely handovers. You will manage technology or integration projects, successfully delivering solutions that meet schedule, budget, safety, and quality targets. Your work involves interfacing with external equipment vendors, partners, and various functional teams at all levels of the organization to provide technical expertise. You will analyze and deep-dive into system performance, proactively mitigate risks, and keep engineering deliverables under control.
A day in the life varies in scope, complexity, and duration. You might be coordinating site activities with operations teams and contractors, deep-diving into project progress and resources to identify barriers, or facilitating planning meetings to ensure stakeholder alignment. Essential tasks include reviewing and approving Sorter System Functional specifications, tracking sorter configurations, and brainstorming workaround solutions to mitigate delays. You will also support system commissioning, perform acceptance testing for quality and safety, and train other engineering team members on Amazon's installation standards.
If you are a natural self-starter with proven integrated automation project engineering experience and want to help Amazon further raise our fulfillment solution bar, we want to hear from you. We value people with unique backgrounds, experiences, and skillsets. If you are passionate about this role and want to make an impact on a global scale, please apply.
Location & Travel Requirements This role requires 75% regional travel on a yearly basis. When not traveling, you must have availability to work from a corporate office.
