About the Team

Amazon created one of the most sophisticated supply chains in the world, consistently driving change from the front of the pack. The OE Execution Team is responsible for the delivery of Automation Infrastructure projects related to material handling, storage, processing, and product delivery for retrofits and new builds across First and Middle Miles in North America.

We are a diverse, upbeat, and creative team of engineers and managers who work daily to ensure our internal customers have the capabilities to deliver on the Customer Promise. At Amazon, we are all Owners, leveraging unique opportunities to own everything from firm engineering to project execution and final hand-off. We are committed to continuous improvement, constantly raising the quality bar through incremental and breakthrough developments, and incorporating lessons learned into future design iterations.

Global Engineering Services (GES) North America Operations Engineering works across the region to deliver material handling system launches, retrofits, and innovations. We are a highly team-oriented group that strives to "be smarter together, be faster together, and grow together."

About the Role

As an Operations Engineer, you will lead and manage the lifecycle of challenging cross-functional projects, developing and delivering the next generation of sortation and distribution solutions. You will play an integral part in planning and implementing the facility network infrastructure, including new builds, retrofits, expansions, and program initiatives.

You will partner with internal customers and stakeholders to ensure timely handovers, working alongside some of the most talented engineers in the design, development, and delivery of physical distribution systems globally. Your day-to-day may involve managing one or multiple projects of varying scope and complexity. Tasks include coordinating site activities with operations teams and contractors, deep-diving into project progress and resources to identify barriers, and facilitating planning meetings to ensure alignment on objectives and next steps.

You will be responsible for reviewing and approving Sorter System Functional specifications, tracking sorter configurations, and performing systems installation quality, safety, throughput, and performance qualifications. This role requires a solid understanding of design approaches and industry technologies utilized in fulfillment and distribution center designs, often involving direct collaboration with external equipment vendors, customers, or partners.

Hiring Process & Application

If you are not sure that every qualification on the list describes you exactly, we'd still love to hear from you! At Amazon, we value people with unique backgrounds, experiences, and skillsets. If you're passionate about this role and want to make an impact on a global scale, please apply.

Location & Travel Requirements This role requires up to 75% regional travel on a yearly basis, which can include up to three weeks in a row, including weekends. When not traveling, you must have availability to work from a corporate office. Candidates should either live near or be willing to relocate within a reasonable commuting distance of one of the corporate office locations listed (San Francisco, Boston, New York, Nashville, Austin, Houston, Irving, Arlington, or Bellevue).
