King County's Facilities Management Division (FMD) operates and manages the County's capital assets through a workforce of over 300 dedicated employees. Our mission is to develop and maintain cost-conscious, sustainable, high-quality facilities and environments. The Building Operations Section specifically maintains approximately 3 million square feet of facilities where King County provides regional services, including the Courthouse, District Courts, Maleng Regional Justice Center, Administration Building, Animal Shelter, and Public Health facilities. These facilities range in age from 8 to 100 years and house complex equipment such as boilers, chillers, DDC controls, and fire/life/safety systems.
As an HVAC Engineer, you will join a team that values technical expertise and strong team-oriented camaraderie. You will perform skilled day-to-day operations, inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of facility heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This role is critical to ensuring the comfort and safety of the diverse public served by King County.
In this position, you will apply equity and social justice principles to all aspects of your work, exemplifying shared values and behaviors. You will build effective relationships with customers and co-workers, solving service issues with tact and diplomacy while working with a broad and diverse customer base. The role requires a blend of technical precision and interpersonal skill to maintain large commercial heating and cooling systems and their controls.
