About the Department and Division

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine is seeking an Open Rank faculty member to serve the clinical and educational missions of the Division of Neonatology. The division is based at Tampa General Hospital (TGH) in Tampa, FL, a 1,018-bed private not-for-profit teaching hospital affiliated with USF Health. As one of the most comprehensive medical facilities in west central Florida, TGH serves a dozen counties with a population exceeding 4 million.

TGH is a Level 1 trauma center and home to the 82-bed Jennifer Leigh Muma NICU. This facility is a designated Regional Perinatal Intensive Care Center by the State of Florida, committed to delivering the highest level of medical care to premature and sick infants, as well as women with high-risk pregnancies. USF/TGH Neonatology actively participates in the Florida Perinatal Quality Collaborative, a statewide initiative dedicated to improving maternal and infant health outcomes across Florida.

About the Role

This position is designed to advance the clinical, educational, and research pillars of the Division of Neonatology. The successful candidate will manage patients within the neonatal intensive care unit while contributing significantly to the department's teaching programs for neonatal fellows, pediatric residents, and medical students. The role involves participating in the preparation and organization of new educational initiatives, serving on university and departmental committees, and leading grand rounds and lectures.

In addition to clinical and teaching duties, the faculty member is encouraged to engage in ongoing research within the division and contribute to efforts seeking extramural funding. The role reports to the Chair or a higher-level administrator of the State university and encompasses responsibilities in teaching, research, service, academic advising, and representing the university, college, or department.

Hiring Process and Application

Candidates must hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License (or foreign equivalent) and must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neonatology & Perinatal Medicine. The appointment requires maintaining credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan and serving as a medical staff member in good standing at the assigned hospitals.

Interested candidates should submit their application materials through the university's official career portal. The selection process will review academic records, clinical experience, and research contributions to determine the appropriate rank (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) based on the candidate's demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, research, and service.
