As a Special Education Aide in Chippewa Valley Schools, you will play a vital role in supporting the teacher and ensuring the best possible learning experience for students with special needs. Your primary mission is to foster a safe, secure, and inclusive environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and personally.
In this one-on-one or small-group capacity, you will work directly under the supervision of the classroom teacher to implement instructional activities and behavior management plans. Your day involves engaging students in reading, writing, math, and life skills while assisting with personal needs such as hygiene and toileting. You will act as a key partner in monitoring student behavior, utilizing Crisis Intervention and Prevention (CPI) training to de-escalate situations and maintain a positive atmosphere. Additionally, you will serve as a bridge between the school, the student, and the community, communicating effectively to answer questions and share information.
This position is essential for maintaining the confidentiality of student records and ensuring that individual student requirements and behavior plans are followed meticulously. You will also participate in professional development to continuously improve your ability to support students with diverse needs.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and have experience working with children. Experience in special education is preferred. Applicants should be prepared to demonstrate strong communication skills, adaptability, patience, and the physical ability to assist students with mobility, lifting, and transfers as required.
