This new position serves as a vital support partner for teachers and students within the Chippewa Valley Schools special education program. The primary mission is to ensure the best possible learning experience for children with special needs while maintaining a safe, secure, and confidential environment. Working as a Special Education Aide, you will be the eyes and hands of the classroom, facilitating academic tasks, managing behavior, and assisting with personal care needs under the direct supervision of certified teachers.
Your day will be dynamic and student-centered. You will work one-on-one, in small groups, or within the broader classroom setting to engage students in instructional activities such as reading, writing, math, and life skills. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to implementing behavior management plans, utilizing Crisis Intervention and Prevention (CPI) training to de-escalate situations and redirect behaviors positively.
Beyond academics, you will provide essential personal support, including hygiene, toileting, and clothing assistance. This role requires physical agility to assist students with mobility equipment, transfers, and lifting, as well as the ability to navigate a moderate-to-loud work environment. You will also participate in professional development and maintain accurate data collection on student progress and behavior.
This is a full-time, non-exempt position based in Cheyenne. The schedule runs from 8:55 AM to 3:40 PM, totaling 6.25 hours per day. The role is effective immediately.
