The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) is a nationally and internationally renowned group dedicated to clinical care, research, and education. As the state's only private medical school and health sciences graduate school, MCW is a major national research center ranking in the top third of U.S. medical schools in NIH funding. The department operates within the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center, a modern campus housing Froedtert Hospital, Children's Wisconsin, and other vital health entities that share a mission of excellence in patient care and biomedical research.
The General Obstetrics and Gynecology Division is comprised of 26 faculty and staff physicians and 7 advanced practice providers. We deliver care across 12 diverse clinical settings, including the Froedtert & MCW Birth Center, which features one of the only Level 4 Obstetrical Units in Wisconsin, directly connected to the Level 4 NICU at Children's Wisconsin. Froedtert Hospital serves as a statewide referral center for patients of varying complexity.
We are seeking a board-certified or board-eligible physician to join our expanding Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology as an Academic Hospitalist. This position is based at the Froedtert & MCW Birth Center in Milwaukee, WI. You will provide care to both high-risk and low-risk obstetric patients in a hospitalist role, managing emergent gynecologic conditions and performing surgical procedures as needed.
This role is designed for those seeking a sustainable career path free from the demands of private practice. You will work in a collaborative, team-based environment alongside labor and delivery nurses, midwives, attending physicians, and other hospital staff. A key component of the position is engaging in teaching and mentoring residents, fellows, and medical students actively involved in patient care, reflecting MCW's core commitment to academic medicine.
The hospitalist model offers a predictable schedule with no on-call duties, allowing for full disconnection on days off to prioritize personal time, family, and wellness. You will work 12-hour shifts, totaling 14 per month, with a balanced mix of weeknights, weekends, and holidays.
