The Nursery Nurse performs direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act. You will utilize therapeutic communication to maintain a safe therapeutic environment, identifying nursing problems as they relate to the individual needs of the patient. You will plan individualized patient care while utilizing an interdisciplinary approach and participating in performance improvement activities.
In this role, you will assess, plan, and evaluate patient care needs, carrying out physician orders. Your daily responsibilities include administering prescribed medications, changing dressings, cleaning wounds, and monitoring vital signs. You will monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions using computerized documentation systems. Additionally, you will instruct and educate patients and families as part of a Multidisciplinary Care Planning team.
When acting in the charge nurse role, you will be responsible for day-to-day activities to ensure the delivery of quality patient care. This includes making staff assignments based on patient need, acuity, and staff skill, serving as a role model and clinical resource, and responding timely to requests from physicians, staff, or patients.
