Centro, operating under the Central New York Regional Transportation Authority (CNYRTA), provides essential ground passenger transportation services across Central New York. Headquartered in Syracuse, NY, the organization manages a network of five transit companies serving the counties of Onondaga, Cayuga, Oswego, and Oneida. The authority was established in 1971 by the New York State legislature to facilitate public transit across seven counties, though current membership includes four of those regions. The system includes CNY Centro, Inc., Centro of Cayuga, Inc., Centro of Oswego, Inc., Centro of Oneida, and Centro Call-A-Bus, Inc., alongside the operation of the Regional Transportation Center. Funding for these services is derived from passenger fares and matching contributions from county, state, and federal government sources. This structure ensures the delivery of reliable mobility options to residents and visitors within the designated service area.
