As a Highway Maintenance Worker or Highway Technician, you will be on the front lines of keeping Ohio's infrastructure operational and safe for travelers. This role is vital to the state's mission of providing reliable transportation networks, whether you are patching potholes, managing snow and ice operations, or ensuring clear roadways through litter pickup and mowing.
The selected candidate will be placed in the classification (Highway Maintenance Worker 1 or Highway Technician 1) that best matches their minimum qualifications. If you do not yet hold a Commercial Driver's License (CDL), you will attend training to obtain licensure. This position offers a unique opportunity for experience growth within the organization, with regular pay increases starting after just four months of service.

Selected applicants must also register as a driver in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse.
All bargaining unit new hires must serve a one-year probationary period. The final candidate will be required to register as a driver in the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse.
