The Riverside County Department of Animal Services is dedicated to promoting responsible pet ownership through progressive animal welfare initiatives, community outreach, and humane education. The department currently operates four shelters located in Blythe, Jurupa Valley, San Jacinto, and Thousand Palms.
This position serves as a Temporary Support Services Technician within the Department of Animal Services, specifically filling a vacancy in Coachella, CA. The role is part of the County's Temporary Assignment Program (TAP), offering a unique opportunity to gain experience working for the County on a temporary, at-will basis while contributing to current and future operational needs.
Working under general supervision, you will perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance and support tasks essential to the department's daily operations. Your day will involve a blend of hands-on facility care and logistical coordination. You will be responsible for monitoring buildings and equipment to identify needed repairs, performing minor mechanical and electrical maintenance, and managing inventory. This includes receiving, storing, and issuing supplies, tools, and equipment, as well as maintaining accurate records of repairs and inventory levels.
The role also requires physical agility and technical aptitude for tasks such as loading and unloading freight, operating a forklift, assembling furniture, and performing minor vehicle maintenance. Additionally, you may assist in the installation and repair of communication equipment, including mobile radios, pagers, and telephones, while ensuring facility safety and compliance with County regulations.
