About the Role
The Night Custodian at Lewes Elementary School plays a vital role in ensuring the school environment remains safe, sanitary, and orderly for students and staff. Working from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, this full-time, permanent position is dedicated to maintaining the cleanliness of the building and grounds after hours. The role exists to provide a secure and welcoming space where learning can thrive, requiring a team member who can work independently while collaborating effectively with the broader school community.
Day in the Life
Your day begins with a focus on sanitation and safety. You will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining floors, walls, doors, windows, furniture, and fixtures, ensuring the building is ready for the next day. A key part of your mission is eliminating hazards to create a safe environment, which includes managing trash disposal and maintaining a tidy custodial closet. You will also monitor walks, driveways, and parking areas, performing snow removal when necessary. Beyond routine cleaning, you will respond to emergency cleanup calls, assist with loading and unloading supplies, and ensure all custodial equipment is inspected and maintained for safety and compliance.
