About the Team

UMB's mortgage team was established in 2013 with a strategic decision to bring the entire mortgage process in-house. The team boasts a wealth of knowledge, comprised of associates who have spent 10 or more years in the mortgage field. As a vital component of the bank, the mortgage sales team attracts new clients by building strong relationships with internal stakeholders, real estate agents, and other partners who refer clients with mortgage needs.

About the Role

The Mortgage Loan Originator plays a crucial role in educating, advising, and guiding UMB clients through the loan application process. You will be with the client from the beginning of loan approval through to closing. Your primary focus will be assessing the client's specific loan needs and advising on the best options to fit their situation. Success in this role requires building strong, lasting relationships by providing progress reports at every step of the mortgage journey.

You will use your banking and lending knowledge to advise clients on the best mortgage solutions, while leveraging salesmanship skills to build a pipeline and convert leads into clients. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential to ensure clients remain informed and engaged throughout the process.
