About the Role

As a Monitor Technician at Kaiser Permanente in San Diego, you play a critical role in the in-patient care team by providing essential arrhythmia and ECG monitoring services. Your primary mission is to ensure patient safety through continuous observation of cardiac rhythms, accurate data recording, and timely communication of critical changes to the nursing staff. This position serves as the bridge between advanced cardiac technology and clinical decision-making, helping to diagnose heart ailments and support patient recovery.

In this role, you will operate a variety of cardiac equipment, including telemetry transmitters, central monitor banks, and 12-lead ECG machines. Your day involves greeting patients professionally, obtaining scheduled and STAT ECGs, and meticulously preparing patients for testing. You will interpret cardiac rhythms, validate computer readouts, and compare current data against previous strips to identify abnormalities. Beyond technical duties, you are responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly work area, performing routine equipment maintenance, and ensuring all records are accurately compiled and maintained for the nursing unit.

Hiring Process

Qualified applicants with arrest and/or conviction records will be considered for employment in a manner consistent with Federal, state, and local laws, including but not limited to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance. External hires must pass a background check and drug screen. The role requires a successful completion of the Kaiser Permanente basic arrhythmia assessment test with a score of 80% or better, and candidates must demonstrate the ability to recognize cardiac arrhythmias and artifacts.

Equal Opportunity

Kaiser Permanente is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, protected veteran status, or disability status.
