Make a difference in the lives of military Service Members and their families by providing expert counseling and behavioral health support. As a Military and Family Life Counselor (MFLC), you serve as the first line of defense for mental health, offering proactive, preventative, and solution-focused care to address issues before they become greater challenges. This role allows you to safeguard and enhance mental well-being without the administrative burdens of insurance filings, progress notes, or treatment plans.
We are seeking passionate, licensed mental healthcare providers to join the Mission Ready Reserve (MRR) team. This position is designed for flexible, ready-to-serve counselors willing to step in at a moment's notice across military installations and communities. As an MRR MFLC, you will focus wholeheartedly on your passion for helping others, taking assignments at your discretion to support adults or minors in various settings, including embedded military units, family support programs, and school environments.
In this specific interim position, you will serve Service Members and their families in Honolulu, Hawaii. Your day-to-day may involve face-to-face counseling (individual, couples, family, and children), recommending referrals to military and community resources, and offering presentations on social skills development. You will also build rapport by attending installation and community events, helping families navigate unique military challenges such as frequent moves, deployments, and transitions.
The work environment varies by assignment. Duties are performed in multiple indoor locations (approximately 60%), such as military installations, schools, or child development centers, and outdoor locations (approximately 40%). Outdoor work may involve traversing uneven terrain and exposure to weather, while child development center settings may require sitting on the floor to interact with children for extended periods.
MRR MFLCs benefit from a streamlined service-oriented model that removes administrative hurdles. In addition to intuitive reporting tools, you will enjoy unlimited and free Continuing Education Units (CEUs) through a Leidos affiliate, reimbursement for job-related license renewal fees, and eligibility for a 401(k) retirement plan. Additional perks include referral incentives, access to health and wellness programs with cashback incentives, and access to the Leidos Employee Discount Program.
Under the recent National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), licensed MFLCs may provide non-medical counseling services to military families at any location in a U.S. state, the District of Columbia, or a territory, regardless of the state in which the counselor is licensed. To participate, you must hold a valid independent license in the mental health field (e.g., LCSW, MFT, LPCC, Psychologist) recognized by the Secretary of Defense, be a U.S. citizen, and be able to pass a Public Trust clearance (NACI/CNACI).
