Join the mission to support U.S. military service members and their families as they navigate important life adjustments while serving their country. Leidos is seeking licensed behavioral health professionals to join the Military and Family Life Counselor (MFLC) Child and Youth Behavioral team at Fort Bliss, TX. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide vital, non-medical support—including counseling, consultation, and outreach—to eligible faculty, staff, parents, children, and youth.
Military children face unique emotional and environmental challenges due to the stress of military life. This position allows you to reach them where and when they are most needed, offering preventive, solution-focused approaches to address issues before they become greater challenges.
As a CYB-MFLC, you will work directly within schools populated by military youth and teens. Your day will involve visually observing, participating in, and engaging with activities to provide coaching, guidance, and support to staff and parents. You will model behavior management techniques and offer presentations on social skills development and social-emotional learning crucial for youth development.
The role requires building rapport with families by attending installation and community events and assisting with transition adjustments, such as moving to a new school or home. You will communicate trends and issues at the assigned installation to Team Leads and participate in regular in-service training. The position operates on a 9-month school calendar reflecting the specific school year you support.
The work environment is dynamic, with duties performed in multiple indoor locations (approximately 60%) and outdoor locations (approximately 40%). Indoor settings are within schools controlled by the state and/or Department of Defense Education Activity. Outdoor duties frequently involve traversing uneven grassy, gravel, or dirt areas, ascending or descending stairs, and working in various weather conditions. You may also need to respond to emergent situations in any physical location on a military installation and travel to sites outside the base.
At Leidos, we outthink, outbuild, and outpace the status quo because the mission demands it. We are not hiring followers; we are recruiting those who disrupt, provoke, and refuse to fail. We are already at step 30, moving faster than anyone else dares.
As part of our team, you will benefit from centralized support through a Counseling Center of Excellence that provides best practices, expert speakers, and state-of-the-art resources. You will also receive free and unlimited behavioral healthcare training, reimbursement for job-related license renewal fees, and eligibility to participate in a 401K retirement plan.
Under the recent National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), licensed Military and Family Life Counselors may provide non-medical counseling services to military families at any location in a U.S. state, the District of Columbia, or a territory or possession of the United States, regardless of which state the counselor is licensed in. Within the scope of the MFLC program, a counselor may hold any independent and clinical license recognized by the Secretary of Defense.
All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to sex, race, ethnicity, age, national origin, citizenship, religion, physical or mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, pregnancy, family structure, marital status, ancestry, domestic partner status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, veteran or military status, or any other basis prohibited by law. Leidos will also consider for employment qualified applicants with criminal histories consistent with relevant laws.
