About the Role
This position serves as a critical bridge between Wagstaff's engineering capabilities and customer success. You will apply engineering knowledge to unique technical circumstances at various customer locations, evaluating sites and interpreting data to develop recommendations for the optimal utilization of Wagstaff-supplied equipment. The role requires becoming a subject matter expert on Wagstaff Casting Systems and the DC casting process (Billet or ingot).
You will oversee and perform pre-sales technical site evaluations, installations, start-ups, and troubleshooting. A significant portion of the role involves providing advice, guidance, and training to customers and internal Technical Service personnel regarding equipment installation, operation, and the optimization of cast house operations. You will also draft technical papers for publication, participate in research activities related to aluminum casting technologies, and assist in creating technical bulletins and manuals.
Work Environment & Travel
Substantial and extended international and domestic travel is required to meet customer and company business needs. The role involves a hybrid environment:
- Office Work: Performed in a climate-controlled, well-ventilated office with moderate noise levels, requiring regular computer work.
- Shop Floor & Customer Sites: You will interact frequently with manufacturing shop floors and customer sites. These environments may expose you to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risks associated with moving equipment. Strict adherence to safety protocols, including coordination with site managers and the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), is mandatory.
