About the Team

McAlister Institute is a 48-year beacon in San Diego's Recovery Community. We are dedicated to serving diverse populations, including the impoverished, unhoused, and those suffering from chronic substance use and mental health challenges. Our mission is to provide compassionate, trauma-informed, and patient-centered care to individuals struggling with co-occurring disorders.

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Bilingual Mental Health Worker to join our team. This role is designed for a professional registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) or the Board of Psychology who thrives in an outpatient setting. As a Mental Health Worker, you will be the bridge between clinical expertise and client recovery, working closely with individuals to facilitate therapeutic interventions and create personalized recovery plans.

In this position, you will report directly to the Program Manager and receive clinical supervision. Your day-to-day involves conducting assessments, monitoring client progress, and facilitating therapeutic activities that promote coping skills and relapse prevention. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care, educate clients and families on recovery strategies, and defuse high-intensity situations with a calm and competent manner. This is an on-site role requiring strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with medical professionals, laypersons, and families alike.

Hiring Process & Application

All employment offers are contingent upon the successful completion of pre-employment requirements, including a criminal background investigation (fingerprinting), a pre-employment physical examination, drug testing, and a negative TB test. Candidates must have at least one year clear of probation or parole. We also require a valid and unrestricted California Driver's License with a good driving record.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. McAlister Institute does not participate in visa sponsorship programs. Current employees may receive priority consideration for positions when they meet essential qualifications. We do not solicit staffing or agency contacts; please submit your application directly through our careers site.

Equal Opportunity & Culture

McAlister Institute is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer. We consider qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, ancestry, medical condition, or any other characteristic protected by local, state, or federal law.

We are dedicated to providing reasonable accommodations to applicants as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA). If you require an accommodation during the application or selection process, please contact jobs@mcalisterinc.org with your name and the position you are applying for.
