This role is part of the CPC Acute Services within the Behavioral and Mental Health department. The team operates in diverse settings, including in-patient and residential facilities, as well as outreach environments like homes, schools, and community agencies. The mission is to provide comprehensive care for neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, ensuring a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment that enhances treatment and educational effectiveness.
As a Mental Health Technician, you will serve as a vital link in the patient care continuum. Your day involves providing direct care that promotes safety, comfort, and therapeutic progress for individuals facing behavioral and mental health challenges. You will assist patients with activities of daily living, manage crisis interventions, and participate in the development and implementation of treatment programs.
The role requires active engagement with a multi-disciplinary team to lead milieu activities, such as fitness groups, community meetings, and recreational activities. You will also act as a liaison between patients, families, and other departments, ensuring seamless coordination of care. Whether responding to psychiatric crises, performing phlebotomy duties, or transporting patients to appointments, your proactive approach to patient safety and adherence to strict confidentiality and safety protocols is essential.
Candidates must possess a High School diploma or GED equivalent and have at least six months of directly related experience. Training in Mental Health Technology can be completed within six months of hire. Essential credentials include CPR for Healthcare Providers (or BLS/Pro Rescuers) and Aggressive Behavior Certification, both of which must be obtained within 30 days of employment. Bilingual skills in English, Spanish, Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo are highly valued.
