Join the Office of Mental Health at the South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD). Our mission is to provide compassionate and accessible care to our community, dedicated to helping individuals and families navigate life's challenges to achieve long-term wellness. We are building a healthier, more resilient community through integrated mental health services.
This position serves as an embedded mental health professional within the Sandhills Middle, Swansea Freshman Academy, and Swansea High School communities. As a Mental Health Professional I, you will provide a full array of clinical services to patients referred to the School Mental Health program, working under the general supervision of a program supervisor.
You will be the bridge between clinical care and the school environment, offering individual, family, and group treatment, as well as crisis intervention services. Your day-to-day involves utilizing evidence-based practices to support students and families, while also consulting with community partners and responding to non-patient mental health crises within the assigned schools. This role requires a blend of direct clinical care, documentation, and active participation in treatment team meetings and professional development.
To apply, you must complete the official state application, which includes answering all supplemental questions. Please note that a resume will not be accepted or reviewed to determine qualifications; your official application must include all current and previous work history and education. Any misrepresentation in your application will result in disqualification from employment.
The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all applicants. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions including lactation), national origin, age (40 or older), disability, or genetic information.
This is a community-based position that requires travel between schools and the clinic for required meetings. As an essential role, you may be called back during crises, disasters, or emergencies.
