This position is located at Essentia Virginia Hospital and serves as a vital component of our diagnostic services. The role is designed to support the routine screening, diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases and injuries across patients of all ages. Whether serving as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), you will be responsible for performing and reporting tests of all complexity levels as defined by CLIA.
The day-to-day environment involves a dynamic mix of technical precision and problem-solving. You will participate in Quality Assurance and Quality Control monitoring, handle instrumentation maintenance and troubleshooting, and manage specimen processing. Depending on the specific needs of the team, you may also perform phlebotomy duties. As an MLS, you will additionally engage in research, development, education, and technical consultation, interpreting and correlating test results with disease states and theoretical knowledge.
This role operates on a Day/Eve/Night rotation. The schedule follows a repeating pattern of Day/Evening/Night/Day/Evening/Night, with 64 hours per pay period. Weekend availability is required. The position is part-time at 0.8 FTE.
