About the Role
This position serves as a vital component of our diagnostic team, performing and reporting tests of all complexity levels as defined by CLIA on patients of all ages. These tests assist in the routine screening, diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases and injuries.
As a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), you will be expected to exhibit problem-solving skills of varying complexity. Your day-to-day responsibilities include participating in Quality Assurance and Quality Control monitoring, as well as instrumentation maintenance and troubleshooting. Depending on the specific needs of the team, you may also perform phlebotomy and specimen processing duties.
The MLS role offers additional opportunities to engage in research, development, education, and technical consultation. In this capacity, you will interpret and correlate test results with disease states and theoretical knowledge, providing a higher level of clinical insight to support patient care.

Candidates must hold the appropriate degree and certification as outlined in the qualifications. Please note that certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP) is required within one year from the date of hire if not already held.

Location & Schedule
This role is based at Building B - St Marys Medical Center. The position operates on a Day/Eve rotation schedule, including weekend coverage. The role is represented by the USWA Technical Workers SMMC (UTECH) union.
