UC Merced seeks a Medical Director to guide a close-knit, multidisciplinary team in a dynamic leadership opportunity. This role is designed for a professional who wants to build and innovate within a student-centered care environment. The position is 80% administrative (including 20% dedicated to Quality Improvement) and 20% clinical, with no call or inpatient duties.
You will report to Dr. Sekhon, Associate Vice Chancellor and Executive Director of Health & Well-Being, as part of a peer leadership team of five. Your mission is to oversee AAAHC reaccreditation in 2028, drive quality improvement and risk assessment across Student Health Services, and lead a diverse team of physicians, NPs, PAs, and support staff. You will partner closely with Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) to deliver comprehensive, whole-person care.
This is a unique chance to bring growth-minded energy to a newer campus, expanding services and improving systems for access and care coordination. You will thrive in a small, supportive environment where teammates switch hats and collaborate across departments with strong campuswide support.
UC Merced Student Health Services is dedicated to helping students stay healthy—physically and emotionally—so they can focus on their academic and personal goals. We offer a wide range of medical, mental health, and health promotion services designed to mitigate the impact of illness, stress, or injury on students' daily lives.
Our team comprises board-certified physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and nurses, all working closely with CAPS to deliver comprehensive care. We are committed to providing care that is timely, confidential, affordable, and tailored to students' needs. Beyond treatment, we focus on prevention and education, empowering students to make informed decisions about their health. Our goal is to create a campus where wellness is the norm and students feel supported in every part of their journey.
