As a Medical Assistant at BLH Bronson LakeView Hospital, you will serve as a vital support to our providers in the Lakeview Specialty Offices in Paw Paw, MI. Working under the direction of a provider, you will deliver general nursing functions and clinical support to ensure a seamless patient experience.
Your day will involve a dynamic mix of clinical and administrative tasks. You will be responsible for recording vital signs, obtaining concise patient histories, and conducting initial patient assessments. You will prepare patients for examinations, administer treatments as requested, and assist physicians with procedures such as laceration repairs and pap/pelvic exams. Additionally, you will obtain specimens for testing, perform laboratory tests, and manage patient education regarding medications, treatments, and care.
Beyond direct patient care, you will play a key role in the operational flow of the office. This includes processing and posting information to patient charts, coordinating admissions and referrals, scheduling appointments, and managing inventory. You will also screen calls to determine urgency and assist with various patient forms. Success in this role requires the ability to work independently while functioning as an integral team member, maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills with patients, doctors, and staff.
