About the Role

As a Medical Assistant at Johnson Memorial Health, you will serve as a vital link between patients and providers, ensuring a seamless and supportive experience from check-in to check-out. You will work within a collaborative environment across Family Physicians, Women's Care, Internal Medicine, and Pediatrics, playing an active role in patient care delivery.

Your day will involve a dynamic mix of clinical and administrative duties. You will room patients, document signs and symptoms, and obtain vital signs such as blood pressure, weight, and temperature. You will assist providers with a variety of procedures, including dressing changes, ear washes, catheterizations, suture and staple removal, cast applications, and breathing treatments. Depending on the provider's specialty, you may also perform EKGs, urinalyses, and specific tests like strep, flu, and pregnancy tests.

Beyond clinical tasks, you will manage patient scheduling for tests, radiology exams, and specialist appointments, while handling prior authorizations and insurance referrals within our EMR. You will also serve as a resource for visitors and staff, greeting everyone promptly and courteously. In Family Physicians, Women's Care, Internal Medicine, and Pediatrics, you may administer immunizations and maintain accurate records. You will also handle phone triage, fielding patient questions regarding test results and medication refills as directed.

Hiring Process

Candidates must hold a high school diploma and have successfully completed a recognized medical assistant training course or possess equivalent experience. Current certification as a CMA (AAMA), RMA, NCMA, or CCMA is required. Additionally, a current BLS or CPR for Healthcare Providers certification is necessary within six months of hire.
