Working in an outpatient setting, this role bridges clinical and administrative functions to ensure safe, timely, and efficient clinic operations. You will perform routine clinical and administrative tasks under close supervision, helping to maintain a smooth workflow while delivering high-quality care.
Your day involves a dynamic mix of patient interaction and operational support. As patients arrive, you will prepare them and standard equipment for routine procedures, ensuring their comfort and readiness.
You will assist with preventive care activities, such as basic screenings and health maintenance reminders, and perform routine clinical procedures like point-of-care testing and basic diagnostic support once competency is established. A key part of your role is maintaining exam rooms by cleaning and restocking supplies to ensure a safe environment. You will also handle specimen collection, labeling, and routing, while accurately documenting clinical information in the electronic medical record.
In addition to clinical duties, you will support the administrative side by managing appointment scheduling, patient check-in/out tasks, and incoming calls using standard protocols. You will assist with pre-certification and referral processes and help track clinical supplies. Throughout your shift, you will follow established clinical protocols and infection control guidelines, reporting any safety or compliance concerns promptly.
New hires will participate in a clinical orientation and must complete a competency evaluation. To ensure patient safety and quality care, all Medical Assistants must pass a clinical skills assessment and a medication administration test within ninety (90) days of hire, with up to three attempts allowed.
