The Media Planning Director serves as a strategic leader, guiding teams through the timely development and submission of annual Media Plans, Points-of-View (POVs), and comprehensive media analyses. This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between client marketing objectives and execution, ensuring that integrated media strategies are not only developed but effectively implemented and optimized.
In this position, you will act as a primary liaison between the agency and client senior executives. You will oversee the preparation of high-stakes presentations that articulate clear objectives, strategies, and rationales, backed by robust data. Beyond strategy, the Director ensures harmonious relationships with account teams and stakeholders, regularly meeting to align on goals and provide coaching to direct reports, including supervisors, planners, and assistants.
The day-to-day involves a dynamic mix of high-level negotiation and hands-on oversight. You will monitor active buys during negotiations, ensure adherence to guidelines, and manage the reconciliation of budgets with the accounting department. By maintaining strong rapport with media vendors and attending industry presentations, you will proactively build relationships that drive innovative media solutions for assigned clients.
