About CMTA and Energy Solutions

CMTA, a Legence company, is one of the fastest-growing engineering firms in the U.S., recognized for expertise in sustainable, high-performance building engineering. Our Energy Solutions division specializes in Guaranteed Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPCs), a unique approach that upgrades and renovates facilities in a budget-neutral or budget-positive manner. By diverting existing utility spending into facility upgrades, we cover the entire project lifecycle from scope development and design to construction management, commissioning, and ongoing energy management.

We have designed some of the nation's most energy-efficient buildings, including numerous zero-energy structures. Our deep knowledge in the Guaranteed ESPC market allows us to dive deeper than competitors, offering a collaborative, innovative, and data-driven environment.

The Co-op Experience

CMTA Energy Solutions offers a robust co-op program for Mechanical Engineering students that stands apart from typical rotational experiences. Rather than a rehearsed rotation where every student gains the same experience, our program is designed for you to stand out by taking on challenging, real-world projects. You will work under the direct supervision of Professional Engineers alongside full-time staff, building competitive industry skills in a hands-on environment.

You will be involved with multiple Guaranteed ESPCs, participating in every stage of development from initial concept through implementation. This immersive experience covers a wide range of tasks, including identifying energy savings measures, developing renovation documents, and hands-on field work. You will gain practical exposure to photovoltaic systems, LED lighting designs, HVAC systems like geothermal, and building automation systems. By the end of the program, you will have the experience to get a head start in the Energy Service Company (ESCO) industry and the potential to join the fastest-growing ESCO in the country.

Our Culture and Values

We foster a workplace that provides unparalleled growth and career opportunities, focusing on finding engineers whose skills and personalities drive them to excel. The ideal candidate possesses excellent interpersonal skills and thrives both as a team member and independently. We are committed to developing students into full-time caliber employees who contribute directly to the company's growth.

Application and Interview Process

To apply, please submit your resume and relevant academic transcripts. We are looking for candidates who are currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited university. Please note that no sponsorship is available for this position.

If you require assistance or accommodations during the application or interview process, please contact us at ta@wearelegence.com or your dedicated recruiter with the job title and requisition number.

Equal Opportunity Employer
