The Math Specialist at BASIS Baton Rouge Primary Mid City Campus plays a vital role in supporting, supplementing, and extending classroom teaching. This position is designed to implement a quality, research-based math program that meets the diverse needs of students. You will work collaboratively with K-4 teachers to design and implement engaging instruction that leads to fluency and comprehension across all content areas.
In this role, you will attend weekly planning sessions to identify students requiring differentiated instruction, suggesting accommodations and lesson structures to support intensive intervention. You will conduct, organize, and analyze ongoing assessments of student performance using multiple tools to ensure comprehension and fluency in K-5 classrooms. Additionally, you will model best teaching practices to develop the capacity of teachers to support differentiation and classroom accommodations, while meeting regularly with administration to discuss student progress.

Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in the teaching subject or a combination of subject matter undergraduate degree with a Master's in Education. Specialized knowledge of assessment and diagnosis. Strong communication skills in teaching ideas, texts, and concepts with precision and confidence. High GPA in major. Excellent recommendations. Experience working with children (not necessarily in the classroom). Openness to new ideas in teaching.
Education: Bachelor's degree with a major in the teaching subject required; Master's degree in Education or subject matter preferred.
