Propulsion Controls Engineering is seeking an experienced Marine Electrician Lead for our San Diego, California location. This role is critical to maintaining our core pillars of Safety, Operational Excellence, and Shareholder Value within the ship repair industry.
As a Marine Electrician Lead, you will perform and lead a crew engaged in electrical work on and around ships. Your primary mission is to troubleshoot, repair, improve, and build electrical components, ensuring all systems operate safely and efficiently in accordance with Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Standard Items.
You will assist supervisors in leading crew members through complex electrical tasks, including inspecting, correcting, and overhauling marine electrical equipment. Your day involves diagnosing malfunctioning systems, determining replacement needs, and developing logical approaches to install updated equipment. You will interpret wiring diagrams and technical manuals to lay out, pull, and install cables and conduit, as well as test low and high-voltage circuit systems.
Beyond technical execution, you will ensure strict adherence to safety practices, participate in production and planning meetings, and provide on-the-job training and technical support to team members. Success in this role requires the ability to meet tight deadlines, perform precise calculations, and maintain a high level of initiative and commitment.
This position may require access to U.S. government or military sites. Consequently, candidates must be eligible to obtain a base access clearance, which includes passing a background check and presenting valid government-issued identification. Per federal requirements, acceptable ID must be REAL ID-compliant or an approved form of federal identification, such as a valid U.S. passport.
