About the Role
Walashek Industrial & Marine Inc. seeks a skilled Marine Electrician to maintain and repair critical electrical systems aboard ships and in industrial settings. This role is essential for ensuring operational safety and reliability in demanding open-air and confined space environments. You will serve as a key technical resource, diagnosing faults, performing complex repairs, and maintaining compliance with rigorous industry standards including NFPA, NEMA, and NAVSEA specifications.
Day in the Life
Your work will involve a dynamic mix of hands-on troubleshooting and preventive maintenance. You will operate and inspect electrical machines to diagnose defects, utilizing advanced test equipment such as Fluke multimeters, meggers, and oscilloscopes. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to dismantling, cleaning, and reassembling subassemblies like motor controllers, transformers, and junction boxes. You will interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and MIL-STDs to guide repairs, ensuring all work meets design criteria and manufacturer specifications. Additionally, you will manage parts inventory, schedule maintenance, and maintain detailed service records.
Working Conditions
This position requires adaptability to challenging environments. You will work aboard ships, both on and offshore, often in noisy, hot, or cold conditions. The role involves working with hazardous materials, climbing ladders up to 100 feet, and navigating confined or dense areas. Strict adherence to safety protocols is mandatory, including the use of hearing, eye, and head protection, as well as proper PPE.
