The Maintenance Supervisor (Assistant Chief Engineer) serves as a critical leader within Medico Healthcare Linen Service, supporting the plant's equipment repairs and upkeep essential for processing linens. This role is designed for a professional who can adapt to the dynamic needs of a fast-paced production environment while co-leading a team of mechanics toward operational success.
As the designated successor to the Chief Engineer, the Assistant Chief Engineer represents the company with the highest standards of professionalism and integrity. The position involves a blend of hands-on technical work and people management, requiring the individual to coach Journeyman and Apprentice mechanics, enforce safety regulations, and ensure compliance with all company policies and the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
A typical day involves balancing administrative oversight with active participation in plant operations. You will conduct regular equipment inspections, review utility consumption data, and update maintenance records. The role requires active engagement in the plant's safety committee, investigating employee concerns, and managing disciplinary actions when necessary.
Beyond leadership duties, you will perform hands-on maintenance tasks, including troubleshooting process equipment, operating material handling machinery like forklifts and scissor lifts, and executing basic machining operations such as threading and drilling. You will also assist in training personnel on proper operating practices and ensure all team members adhere to strict PPE standards and OSHA safety requirements.
